It was A's idea to have a makeover party and I balked a bit - she doesn't wear makeup at this point. So I offered to have a Mary Kay consultant come and give the girl's pointers and tips and samples. But she said "No. That's too formal." So I asked her if she wanted me to back off and not "organize" anything and she said "Yes!"...so we went to the store and loaded the basket with all kinds of eye shadow, mascara, blushes, powders, blending pads, throw aways mascara wands (cuz no sharing - eeewww!), brushes, mirrors...and the girl's had a free-for-all makeover session! They had a great time deciding if they were "cool" or "warm" skin girls; experimenting and helping each other apply the makeup. They did each other's hair too - choice of flat iron or curling iron. Then I draped them with shiny gold or silver fabric and took their pictures. (Sort of off the shoulder glamorous!)
Now, you might be saying, where is one of THOSE photographs for BSM?? Well, as much as I hate to admit it, they didn't really come out all that great! I took LOTS of pictures... tried changing the lighting and changing the settings on my camera...but mostly...blurry. So that was kind of disappointing.
BUT - the girls really had fun and that's what they'll remember. And my BSM is what I'll remember:
Go check out the other BSM's over at Tracey's!

Wow! I bet they did have a good time...that table is the stuff of dreams to little girls! Great shot!
I'm sure they had an awesome time! And maybe the mess was a little bit worth it. Great picture. :-)
Oh yeah it looks like that table has seen a good time.. Looks like fuN! Nice shot :)
Oh, no. That's sorta what my 7 yo is getting at Libby Lu. I was surprised when she said she wanted it there because she's not really into dressing up. We'll see what happens. I like the table picture. We still no exactly what happened just with that one picture.
hopefully you could just sweep it all off into the garbage? sounds like a great party!
How fun!! What a great mom you are to offer such a sweet party!

What a fun party! You did good, mom!
So we're both in the "13" club now? :)
That's a great idea for a party. I may have to steal it for my daughter who's turning 12 in a few months. She rolled her eyes at all of my suggestions so far.
